One Step Forward

Well, sleeping was a trend for a couple nights anyway. I know I'll be wishing he didn't sleep so much by the time he's 16, right?

Sometimes two steps back is a bit of a theme. The yarn above is really beautiful stuff--part silk, part mohair and the remainder is regular wool. I found a pattern I just love, knit about as much as you see here, and realized it was too big. I took it all out after first conferring with my yarn shop-owning friend who helped me determine how to modify the pattern and how many stitches to lose. Should work, right? I think it's too small now. How does that work? Same needles, same yarn. It must be me, somehow. I think I'll just keep going and stretch it like crazy when it's wet. The problem is, since the yarn is so beautiful and the pattern so great, I am looking for perfection. I'm just afraid when I re-knit it for the umteenth time, it'll still be a bit off. Perhaps I need to stop looking for perfection and just accept how things turn out. It is then, usually, when those same things work out quite well.

So, my son doesn't sleep much, but he will eventually. The sweater will fit, if not me, someone else. And both will make a pretty fine present when that time comes.

Is it for an adult or a kid? I'm not like shaking at the box or anything, just trying to see what size you were thinking. ;) It's really beautiful Loralee. You should post photos of that little car thing you were knitting before Christmas. I would love to see how that came out.

We just put Andrew in a little bed for the first time last night. So far, nothing to report. He went right to sleep last night (he's a little under the weather and has not been a good napper, so bedtime has been easy-breezy lately anyway). We took pics of him sleeping in a big bed (which is actually smaller than his crib was...same mattress but the whole deal is smaller). And right now is nap time. He is not sleeping, but is quiet. looking at books in bed and I think having a stuffed animal snuggle-fest. Rather quiet though, which was all I was hoping for. He hasn't tried to come out of his room. I am starting to feel like he might lack a little imagination..but I should be glad that this is quiet and pretty smooth at this point. I was expecting more drama. Oh well.

The sweater pictured is supposed to be adult sized--we'll see! And I'm going to have to get my brother to take a picture of the little truck sweater. I totally forgot to take a picture of the finished product after sewing on the buttons.

I have some friends whose daughter (just a month older than Andrew) won't leave her room until her parents call her. They don't know how she ever started doing it, but they kind of like it! I hope the big-boy-bed sleeping continues to go well.
